On 27 September, the Ruta del Vino Almansa travelled to Madrid to take part in a wine tourism presentation and wine tasting held at Vino Premier wine shop.El pasado 27 de septiembre, la Ruta del Vino Almansa viajó hasta Madrid para participar en una presentación y cata enoturística celebrada en la vinoteca Vino Premier.
The event was organised by Eturia CLM as part of an initiative aimed at introducing the different Wine Routes of Castilla-La Mancha to the public. On this occasion, the spotlight was on the Ruta del Vino Almansa, with a presentation of our region and a tasting featuring exclusively wines from our Route, all produced under the Almansa Designation of Origin.
For us, it was another opportunity to take our Route beyond our region and showcase everything visitors can discover here: wineries, wines, gastronomy, heritage, nature and a wide range of experiences across our towns.
During the event, we had the opportunity to present our Wine Route, talk about what makes our region special and introduce attendees to some of the wines that are part of it through the tasting.
One of the highlights of the tasting was Garnacha Tintorera, our flagship grape variety, which is closely linked to our region and is one of the defining features of DO Almansa wines.
Its characteristics sparked the curiosity of those attending, giving them the chance to learn more about this very special variety. Unlike most red grape varieties, Garnacha Tintorera has colour in both its skin and pulp, a distinctive feature that surprised many of the participants and helps explain some of the personality and character of our wines.
Events like this allow us not only to present our wines, but also to share everything behind them: the land where they are grown, the varieties we cultivate, the work of our wineries and winegrowers, and the close relationship between wine and our towns.
The presentation in Madrid was also an opportunity to introduce attendees to wine tourism as a different way of discovering our region.
During the event, Cristina Maldonado, coordinator of the Ruta del Vino Almansa, also presented our wine tourism getaways and explained how they can be easily booked through our website, rutavinoalmansa.com. These getaways are designed to make it easy to organise a visit from anywhere and enjoy an experience along our Wine Route, combining different options according to each visitor’s interests.
Visiting the Ruta del Vino Almansa means stepping inside our wineries and discovering how our wines are made, but also exploring our towns, learning about their heritage, enjoying the local gastronomy and finding different experiences to complete your getaway.
At the Ruta del Vino Almansa, we greatly value initiatives like this, which allow us to take a little piece of our region beyond our borders and see first-hand the interest in our wines, our wineries and everything our destination has to offer.
